Deborah S. Halvorsen is the Managing Member of Halvorsen Family Law Group.  Her principal area of practice is family law.  She has practiced family law almost exclusively since being admitted to the Bar and now has over 25 years of experience in this practice area. 

Ms. Halvorsen has been a board-certified family law specialist since 2003, and has been honored as Woodward & White’s Best Lawyers in America, Legal Elite in Business North Carolina magazine and Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers in Charlotte magazine. 

She is a member of the Family Law Section at the North Carolina Bar Association, and former Section Chair and CLE Chair for the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers. 

She received her B.A. Degree from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, in 1995, and her J.D. Degree from Wake Forest University in 1998.  Ms. Halvorsen is available for consultation on all family law matters including, but not limited to issues related to separation, divorce, custody, child support, alimony, and equitable distribution.

Attorney Mary Beth Davis is a first-generation lawyer and North Carolina Native. Mary Beth obtained her undergraduate degree at Norwich University, the Nation’s Oldest Private Military Academy, in Northfield, Vermont. Where she graduated with honors. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Spanish from Norwich. While in attendance at Norwich, Mary Beth co-founded a club named Violence Intervention Peer Advocacy (VIPA) that assisted victims and held the position of Officer in Charge of the Regimental S1 department.

Mary Beth obtained her Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude in May 2022. While in law school, Mary Beth completed a summer position with the Department of Employment Security, where she assisted thousands of individuals in gaining employment security during the global pandemic. She later accepted an internship during which she assisted with family law and civil rights cases by doing legal research and writing. Additionally, Mary Beth participated in NCCU’s Family Law Clinical Education Program that allowed her to assist underprivileged individuals in the community with their family law needs. In her last semester at NCCU, Mary Beth received an outstanding service award for her participation in the Family Law Clinical Education Program.

Throughout her educational career, Mary Beth has become a natural leader by being involved in the Women’s Law Caucus and founding a Feminine Hygiene Drive for female children in Kenya. Mary Beth is also the President of the North Carolina Norwich Alumni Chapter, where she hosts events for the incoming freshman, alumni, and family members in North Carolina each year.

Outside of work, Mary Beth continues to show her love for advocacy and community by participating in public service and volunteer opportunities. Mary Beth also enjoys spending time with her friends and family, most importantly her dog Pinot Grigio. Mary Beth enjoys reading and trying new restaurants for unique foods. Mary Beth loves her dog, coffee, boba milk tea, and having a good time with friends.
